Rooted in University–Rosedale
University–Rosedale isn't just where I serve – it's where I'm from. Three generations of my family were born right here in our ward. I grew up attending local schools, and I've spent my life living, working, and volunteering across our neighbourhoods.
On any given day, you can spot me cycling through our streets, enjoying local parks with my grandchildren, or shopping and supporting local businesses. This community shaped who I am, and my love for our neighbourhoods drives everything I do at City Hall.
Decades of Proven Expertise
Before you elected me in 2022, I spent over 40 years as one of Canada's leading environmental lawyers, holding a Ph.D. in Law and Environmental Studies. As Ontario's independent Environmental Commissioner, I held governments accountable and fought for evidence-based policy until the office was abolished by the Ford government. I've built my career on independence, integrity, and solving tough, complex problems.
Delivering Real Results
During my first term, I rolled up my sleeves to deliver tangible victories:
- Housing & Safe ParksWe met the park encampment crisis with real solutions, breaking ground on 78 supportive housing beds at 35 Bellevue and securing an 80-bed Indigenous-led shelter at 720 Bathurst – protecting our unhoused neighbours while keeping our public parks safe and accessible for everyone.
- Faster Transit & Safer StreetsWe brought transit signal priority and dedicated lanes to Spadina, while expanding cycling routes and Vision Zero safety upgrades.
- Vibrant NeighbourhoodsWe helped save cultural gems like Sneaky Dee's, boosted funding for the Cecil Community Centre, protected local heritage, and strengthened protections for tenants.
The Work Isn't Finished
Complex urban challenges require experienced leadership – not empty slogans. University–Rosedale needs a strong, independent champion who knows how to hold the line and win our fair share.
